The Districting Commission was appointed by the City Commission and held several meetings between October 2021 – April 2022. The Districting Commission presented a report to the City Commission on April 5, 2022, advising of its preferred plan. The City Commission accepted the recommendedBoard Plan 1C, and directed staff to bring back an ordinance adopting the new boundaries set forth in this plan. City residents were notified of the proposed Board Plan 1C in the April water bill as well as placed on the City’s website.
The First Reading of Ordinance adopting the new boundaries for the Commission Districts of the City of Ocoee was heard on June 21, 2022. The Second Reading of Ordinance and Public Hearing is scheduled for August 16, 2022, Regular City Commission Meeting.
The Districting Commission has been formed to serve as an advisory body to the City Commission with respect to the redistricting of the 4 single-member districts of the City of Ocoee.
The City Commission shall establish a Districting Commission after April 1, 2021, or within three (3) months of receipt of the 2020 census data, whichever is earlier, and every ten (10) years thereafter a new Districting Commission shall be appointed by the City Commission within three (3) months of receipt of the relevant census data. The Districting Commission shall review the geographic boundaries of the 4 single-member districts in light of the most current, official census data, together with all other data relevant to the redistricting of geographic boundaries. The Districting Commission shall prepare a report to the City Commission containing recommendations, if any, for the adjustment of district boundaries as outlined in the City's Charter.
